Are You Eligible?

  • Applicant must be a United States Citizen
  • Applicant must be 19 years of age at the time of application
  • Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Applicant must be attending an accredited College or University with at least 24 hours of completed study
  • Applicant must possess a valid drivers license
  • Applicant must not be a convicted felon
  • Applicant must maintain an overall GPA of 2.3 or higher to remain an eligible Cadet

Training and Education

  • In addition to college courses cadets must complete Basic Jail Officer Training
  • Cadets receive 20 hours of in-service training a year
  • Training available through online courses, class room lecture and roll call briefing sessions.

Screening Process

The screening process will include:

  • Interview
  • Polygraph
  • Background Investigation
  • Comprehensive medical and drug screen
  • Physical Training
  • Academic Records
  • Letters of Recommendation

Work Schedule

  • Cadets will work a minimum of 16 hours per week and no more than 56 hours per 80 hour pay period
  • Cadets must have the ability and willingness to work in ALL areas of corrections
  • Cadets should be flexible and willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
